    Chief Medical Resident 2024-25
    Hometown: San Diego, CA
    College: University of California, Berkeley
    Medical School: Georgetown University

I am a proud San Diego native, ventured north to UC Berkeley for undergrad to study Biology and Spanish, and then to D.C. for medical school at Georgetown. I was overjoyed to return to San Diego (my favorite city!) for IM residency at UCSD. Nothing compares to learning medicine and caring for patients in the therapeutic setting of beaches and year-round sunshine! I plan to pursue a career in Endocrinology, and also am interested in Integrative Medicine. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy running, relaxing at the beach, reading science fiction books, learning the piano, and spending time with family!

I grew up in San Jose, CA, attended undergrad at Duke University, and completed medical school at UC San Francisco. I am interested in hematology/oncology and medical education. As a chief resident, I am co-leading the Women in Medicine group, helping to lead the Resident as Clinician Educator (RACE) Track, leading RACE-for-all, and organizing residency wellness initiatives. Outside of the hospital I bake, run, do yoga, crochet, and enjoy going to the beach or exploring new cafes!

I am a born and raised Kentuckian but decided to venture out west for the amazing training and San Diego sunshine and am so happy to be here! I am Med/Peds trained, so will be very excited to always help offer a different perspective when you see me around next year :) One of my passions is narrative medicine (please reach out if you are interested!) and I am applying to palliative care fellowship this fall. Outside of the hospital, you can catch me on the golf course, reading on my front porch or in my hammock, exploring all the amazing neighborhoods in SD, hiking or lounging at the beach.

I grew up in the Bay Area, moved to San Diego for undergrad and have been here ever since! I am so happy I got to stay for residency. There is nothing better than spending your day off getting brunch and then snoozing at the beach (even in the winter)! I am hoping to go into Cardiology and I am interested in Electrophysiology. I love to go for runs, walk on the beach, check out concerts, and watch British crime dramas.

  • David Timmer, MD

    David Timmer, MD

    Chief Medical Resident 2024-25
    Hometown: Port-au-Prince, Haiti
    College: University of Miami
Medical School: Morehouse School of Medicine

I am originally from Haiti. I moved to the states when I was 14 years old and moved around before coming to San Diego. I went to high school and undergrad in Miami, then went to medical school in Atlanta. I was super happy to come to UCSD for residency. I felt welcomed and supported by co-residents and faculty from the beginning. I cannot think of a better city than San Diego for residency training. If there are outdoor activities you enjoy in your time off, there is a high chance that you’ll find it here. Professionally, I have an interest in cardiology and medical education. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my partner and with my friends. I enjoy playing and watching soccer (I'm a Real Madrid fan).

I grew up in New York, went to Dartmouth for undergrad, then spent a few years living in various places stateside & in England doing research related to addiction medicine, and solo traveling around Europe & the Middle East. I went to med school at Northwestern and spent an additional year in Greece volunteering with several NGOs and doing research related to refugee health. I was very happy to match at UCSD and make my way to the west coast! I’ve had a wonderful time here, learned a lot, made great memories with my wonderful co-residents (and my patients!), and enjoyed all the global health experiences here at UCSD! I’m interested in a clinical & research career focused on refugee health and considering ID, Addiction Medicine, and Global Health fellowships. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, watching crime fiction shows, and searching for the best coffee spot!

    David Agdashian, MD

    Chief Medical Resident 2024-25
    Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
    College: University of Southern California
    Medical School: George Washington University

I grew up in Los Angeles and stayed in the city for my undergraduate studies at USC. Later, I moved to Washington, DC, where I worked in Congress and at the NIH before attending medical school at George Washington University. Returning to California for residency, I fell in love with San Diego and found some of my best friends here through our residency. I plan to pursue cardiology, focusing on combining biomarker-based risk factor modification with proactive intervention. In my free time, I enjoy sports, finance, trying new restaurants in Little Italy/Downtown, and spending days off playing golf or relaxing in the sun.
