Additional Stipends: $8,000 Resident Enhancement Fund (REF) which will be provided once per PGY. This replaces the meal allowance, jackets, scrubs and educational funds.

- Step 3, Postgraduate Training License, and Physician and Surgeons License are reimbursable
- $50,000 life insurance plan for residents with $100,000 double indemnity clause
- Health, dental, vision insurance for resident and dependents are at no cost
- Disability and malpractice insurance provided by UC San Diego at no cost
- Four (4) weeks of paid vacation each year
- Eight (8) weeks of paid parental bonding leave for each qualifying event
- Leave for illness, family medical emergencies, and maternity or paternity per UC San Diego Internal Medicine Housestaff Manual upon Program Director's approval
- White lab coats and white-coat laundry services
- Access to the library resources of UC San Diego and the VA Medical Center onsite and via internet from offsite
