Inpatient Rotations
UCSD Hillcrest Wards
At UCSD Hillcrest Hospital there are 5 teams (1 resident, 2 interns) which take call every fifth night. Each team admits both medicine and HIV patients (Owen Service) and is paired with a hospital medicine and Owen attending who each round with the team daily. There is a an intern nightfloat during the weekdays.
VA Hospital Wards

At Veteran's Administration Hospital there are 4 teams (1 resident, 2 interns) which take call every fourth night. Each team is paired with an internal medicine or medicine subspecialty attending who rounds with the team daily. There is a an intern nightfloat during the weekdays.
UCSD Thornton Wards
At UCSD Thornton Hospital there are 4 teams (1 resident, 1 intern) which take call every fourth night. Each team admits both medicine and oncology patients and is paired with a hospital medicine and oncology attending who each round with the team daily. Moonlighters provide nightfloat coverage.
Scripps Mercy Wards
At Scripps Mercy Hospital, call is every fifth night, followed
by a non-admitting day, 2 abbreviated admitting days, and
and additional non-admitting day (Long-Post-Short-Medium-
Pre). Residents go home at 10:00 p.m. on long call.
UCSD Hillcrest ICU

There is one MICU team with 2 residents and 2 interns, as well as a pulmonary/critical care fellow and attending. Call is every fourth night. The team responds to all code blues in the hospital.
UCSD Hillcrest CCU

There is one CCU team with 2 residents and 2 interns, as well as a cardiology fellow and attending. The team admits all cardiology patients to both the CCU and telemetry units. Call is every fourth night. The team responds to all code blues in the hospital.
VA ICU/CCU

There is one VICU team with 2 residents and 3 interns. It is a mixed cardiology and pulmonary service with both cardiology and pulmonary/critical care fellows and attendings. Call is every 3 nights. The team responds to all code blues in the hospitals.
