From Los Angeles to UCSD Medical Center

The UCSD Medical Center is approximately a 3 - 3 1/2 hour drive from downtown Los Angeles (longer during rush hour).

  1. Take I-405 southbound to Irvine where I-405 southbound merges with I-5 southbound.
  2. Stay on I-5 southbound until you reach San Diego and exit at Washington Street.
  3. Turn left (going East) on Washington Street to First Avenue.
  4. Left on First Avenue to end, leading left onto Arbor Drive.
  5. Follow Arbor Drive directly into the UCSD Arbor Parking Structure.

There is a fee of $1 per hour with a $8.00 maximum for all day parking. Unfortunately, the Departmentof Medicine is unable to validate parking permits. Curbside parking in the areas surrounding the UCSD Medical Center is restricted to residential "A" permits. Do not park where these permits are designated - fines are rather costly. However, you can park south of Washington Street and walk 4 - 5 blocks to the UCSD Medical Center.

From Los Angeles To Mission Valley Hotels / Motels

  1. Follow above directions from Los Angeles and stay on I-5 southbound until the entrance to I-8 eastbound.
  2. Take I-8 eastbound for approximately 1 mile until you reach the first Hotel Circle Exit.
  3. At Taylor Street/Hotel Circle, turn left at the stop sign and continue east to Hotels/Motels followed by Quality Resort and Days Inn. The Days Inn is just past the Holiday Inn at Bachman.

From Mission Valley To UCSD Medical Center

  1. Exit I-8 eastbound on Hotel Circle South and turn left.
  2. Turn right onto Bachman Place (located between the Holiday Inn and the Days Inn) and continue up the hill to Montecito Way.
  3. Turn right on Montecito Way and continue to the stop sign.
  4. Turn right on First Avenue.
  5. Turn left on Arbor Drive and continue straight on Arbor Drive to the UCSD Arbor Drive Parking Structure.

From San Diego Airport To UCSD Medical Center

  1. Ask to be directed to Laurel Street.
  2. Take Laurel Street East to India Street.
  3. Turn left on India Street and proceed for about 1 mile to Washington Street.
  4. Turn right on Washington Street and proceed up the hill to the shopping district in Hillcrest. Stay in the left lane once you pass the two food stores (Von’s and Albertson’s).
  5. Turn left on First Avenue and continue to until it turns left and becomes onto Arbor Drive.
  6. Continue straight to UCSD Arbor Drive Parking Structure.
