Conferences
Internal Medicine Grand Rounds
Speakers present topics weekly focusing on the synthesis and review of contributions of basic science and clinical research towards the care of patients with various pathologies.
Morning Teaching Conference
Unlike traditional resident report, Morning Teaching Conference has a unique hybrid structure that allows for high yield learning while fitting into a typical resident workday. Residents meet in the morning to present and discuss patient cases, present Mechanism of Medicine reports and discuss evidence-based answers to clinical questions, and participate in lectures by various faculty.
Noon Conference
Conferences are given by various faculty members during the week covering topics from a curriculum of key internal medicine topics. Each talk is focused on the diagnosis, managment and frontiers in common pathology seen in internal medicine. There are also talks on Evidence-Based Medicine, ethics, resident issues, insurance models and documentation standards.
Ambulatory Care Conferences
Residents participate in interactive case discussions the afternoon of their continuity clinics at all sites with faculty members. These cases are from the Yale Outpatient Curriculum and focus on common primary care issues.
Intern Report
One day weekly, interns participate in their own conference during which they present current inpatient cases, discuss differential diagnoses and explore therapeutic options.
Medical Mangement Conferences
Cases are presented by residents and discussed by attendings involved in the care of patients in which challenges in diagnosis or treatment arose or outcomes were unexpectedly poor. These are heavily attended by faculty from every discipline and offer a wonderful opportunity for housestaff to learn from expert physicians through the discussions insights and pearls which are difficult to learn, various perspectives on care, and approaches to problems that are not well understood or counterintuitive.
